Helene Reed joined the Rowan University Foundation Board in 2004 as the Board of Trustees representative. She also serves as the Vice Chair to the Executive Board as a member of the University’s Board of Trustees and has served as a trustee since 2003.
She is the County Surrogate in Gloucester County, NJ, and has been an active contributor in many different organizations in the county over the years, including as a County Freeholder from 1999-2007. Among her many accomplishments and achievements, she was the first female councilperson in the history of Monroe Township, serving in that role from 1990-98. During that span, she served as the Council President in 1993, 1997 and 1998.
She was the Director of Admissions at Kennedy Memorial Hospital (1973-1997) and was the first president of the hospital’s credit union. She also became an accredited member of the National Association of Hospital Admitting Managers and served as the group’s President.
Ms. Reed has had many other public service interests and philanthropic involvements, including: Fourth Vice President, New Jersey Association of Counties; Member, Health Steering Committee, National Association of Counties; Member, New Jersey Association of Elected Women Officials; Member, Williamstown Women’s Club; Member, Monroe Township Democrat Club; and Past Chairperson and Member, Monroe Township Welfare Board. She was also a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 2000 and 2004.
