About Rowan University

By any measure, Rowan University is an institution on the move. With the impetus created by Henry and Betty Rowan’s $100 million gift in 1992, the University is transforming itself into the region’s premier higher education institution. The Rowan gift has led to additional funding from both public and private sources. With these assets, the University is able to offer faculty and students opportunities not available on most public campuses. Increases in SAT scores and the high-school rank of entering freshmen, as well as the addition of notable faculty and programs, have resulted from the forward momentum established by the Rowan gift.

Renovations around campus are transforming the University to better meet the needs of the students and the community. A bigger, better-designed Rowan has helped transform expectations and attitudes about the value of public higher education and our responsibilities to providing an appropriate environment. It has strengthened our commitment to help improve the communities around us and to encourage economic development that creates more opportunities for students, graduates and citizens of the region.

For the ninth consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report has ranked Rowan University among the best institutions of higher learning in the nation, placing it in the top tier of the Best Universities–Master’s (North Region) category. Rowan is ranked 28th in the category, which includes universities that provide comprehensive undergraduate and master’s programs. Rowan is ranked fourth among the top public universities in the Best Universities–Master’s (North Region) by the magazine.

In addition, in the 2009 Princeton Review, Rowan has been listed among 212 colleges that qualified as “Best in the Northeast.” Rowan has also been recognized by other national organizations that evaluate colleges. Kaplan included the University in “The Unofficial, Unbiased Insider’s Guide to the 320 Most Interesting Colleges.” In 2008, the University was named among the 100 best values in public higher education by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine.
